This indicator will help track compliance with the EU taxonomy for sustainable activities, where technical screening criteria to determine conditions under which an economic activity qualifies contributing substantially to climate change mitigation or climate adaptation has been developed.","methodology":"Climate adaptation benefits are highly context specific. As such, there is a need to monitor multiple potential benefits, both within and between projects. For portfolio level reporting an aggregated KPI is recommended, indicating the number of people benefitting from one or more climate adaptation benefit as a result of the project. The broad methodology is as follows:\r\n<ol>\r\n \t<li>Identify key climate-related risks at the project site.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Assign performance target or thresholds for improved resilience to climate-related risks.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Monitor against targets\/thresholds to assess benefits to climate resilience as a result of the project.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Calculate (e.g. via surveys or population data) the number of people benefitting from this improved resilience.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\nA number of approaches and guidance materials are available to implement this KPI. These include the UK International Climate Finance guidance note 4 and IDB's 'Framework and Principles for Climate Resilience Metrics in Financing Operations' (see Resources).","communication":"Results can be disaggregated by gender and marginalised groups where appropriate. Depending on the range of climate resilience benefits being provided by the fund and level of granularity required it may also be relevant to further disaggregate by climate resilience benefit, for example the number of people benefiting from:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Increased water storage capacity;<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Climate resilient species planting;<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Increased flood protection.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>","considerations":[{"text":"Useful for funds investing in projects expected to improve the resilience of local communities to climate change."},{"text":"The actions contributing to improved resilience will likely vary from project to project based on conditions and the needs of local communities.
